If you choose to not use distilled water and bacteria laden material, it is important to ensure that you purchase a water testing kit. You should then determine what the water balance should be for the type of live plants and animals that you will place in the fish tank aquarium. Once you make this determination, it is important to monitor the water until it is properly balanced. If you find that it is not balanced, it is important to purchase the chemicals that will assist in bringing it to a proper balance. Once the water remains balanced for approximately forty-eight hours, you may then place the live animals in the tank.
