75 Gallon Aquarium Stand
What sturdy aquarium stands would you recommend?
Hi guys,
I'm wanting to buy a heavy-duty aquarium stand for a 55 gallon tank. Slightly larger, up to 75 gallons, would be fine. It's for a single plecostomus, ideally to last the rest of his long life.
My concern is that the majority I can find at your average pet store are made of cheap particle board, and that's not going to work out with several hundred pounds of water on top of it.
Any brands you'd personally recommend? I'm considering the custom ones available at glasscages.com, but the shipping expense is likely to be daunting. Whatever input you can provide would be great. Thanks in advance!
If you're handy, DIY stands are the best, you chose the materials, the design, height, cabinet? shelves? whatever you want - tons of plans available on line and plenty of vids on youtube
if not, not knowing where you live I would say first look on craigslist (or whatever popular classifieds in your area) if in any size major city I am sure there are a couple on there right now. And again, not knowing where you live almost any pet store can easily order a solid oak or pine stand, in fact where i live (Houston, Tx) I never see any particle board stuff unless I am in someplace like PetCo or Walmart.
as far as the weight, you would be surprised, I have seen a 100g tank set up on paper cups to show how equally distributed weight can be held with no problem
