Your favorite type of fish to keep and why? Could you tell me how to care for them just in case I think I?

would want to start keeping them?

One of my favorites are oscars because they are so interactive with their owners. Currently I have a red oscar that likes to play tug-of-war. It started with nightcrawlers, but now we use a piece of knotted twine. I have tied a loop on my end to stick my finger through so that he won't accidently get it away from me and swallow it, because it could cause a fatal blockage.
Oscars get fairly large, my current one is 10 inches and is still growing, so they need a good sized tank. 55 gallons is the absolute bare minimum for an oscar, I recommend 75 gallons or larger. Mine is in an 85. They need heavy filtration, as they are "messy" fish. I feed mine HBH's Oscar Show pellets, New Life Spectrum large fish formula, and nightcrawlers, rotating them. Nightcrawlers are not only kind of fun to watch them eat, they're nearly the perfect food for tropical predators, very nutritious.
